Indication
Lifecath CT PICC Easy is intended for use in patients who require mid to long term IV therapy. They may be used to administer parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy, IV medication, fluids or drugs for pain management, or for blood withdrawal and can be used for Power Injection.
Product highlights
Proximal Trimming:
Lifecath CT PICC Easy is a biostable polyurethane peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) intended for medium- to long-term intravenous therapy.
Its proximal trimming design allows the catheter length to be adjusted from the proximal end after insertion, in accordance with the Instructions for Use.
This design is particularly well suited for ECG-guided tip positioning using saline conduction: the catheter can be advanced without pre-trimming, positioned under ECG guidance, and then trimmed from the proximal end once the final distal tip position has been confirmed. For example, in the randomized study by Gullo et al. (2024), the saline ECG technique using the Lifecath CT PICC Easy 4Fr was associated with a 0% intraprocedural trimming rate, compared with 55% in the wire-based ECG group, supporting simplified catheter length management during ECG-guided placement. High pressure CT injections:
The device is compatible with power injection within the flow rate and pressure limits specified in the product documentation. (2) (3)
Intended patient population and availability:
The Lifecath CT PICC Easy is suitable for pediatrics to adults. This picc-line is supplied with micro-invasive accessories allowing its insertion using the modified Seldinger technique or Over the Wire technique. To meet the needs of different types of placers, there are several kit configurations with 50cm, 67cm or 135cm guidewires. (2) (3)
It is available in three single-lumen catheter sizes (3Fr, 4Fr, 5Fr).
